Nērebtum

Nērebtum is a medium-sized Bronze Age settlement located east of Baghdad on the left bank of the Diyala river. Nērebtum was inhabited from the third to the early second millennium BCE. Excavations at the site by the University of Chicago from 1934 to 1936 exposed two extensive temple structures, one dedicated to the moon god Sîn, another to the goddess Ištar-Kititum, along with extensive fortification walls and private houses.

Pašime

Pašime is an ancient settlement located at Tall Abū Šījah, an archaeological site in the Maysan province of southeastern Iraq, close to the Iranian border. The site was inhabited perhaps already from the fourth millennium BCE, and particularly in the third and early second millennium BCE. The name Pašime appears in an Old Akkadian inscription discovered at the site in the course of excavations by the Iraq State Board of Antiquities and Heritage in 2007. The inscription was dedicated to the god Šuda, indicating that a temple devoted to this deity may have been located at Pašime.

Tall Marjab is a small, heavily denuded mound in the Dhi Qar province of southern Iraq, some 15 kilometers south of Nasiriya and ca. 10 kilometres southeast of Ur. Traces of a small settlement dating to fourth and third millennium BCE were found here in the course of brief excavations by British archaeologists Leonard Woolley and Max Mallowan in 1929-30.

Diqdiqah

Diqdiqah is a small satellite of the ancient city of Ur in the present-day Dhi Qar province of southern Iraq ca. 20 kilometres southwest of Nasiriyah. The site has yielded substantial archaeological remains dating to the late third and early second millennium BC, including the remains of a large structure called 'The Treasury of Sîn-iddinam'. Diqdiqah saw brief excavations by British archaeologists Leonard Woolley and Max Mallowan in 1924.

Gallo-Roman Sanctuary at Bû

Remains of a rectangular Romano-Celtic temple were excavated north of the French town of Bû (in the department of Eure-et-Loir), beginning in the 1960s. Other buildings of uncertain nature and a theater were also identified in the vicinity. Coins and pottery discovered at the site indicate there was activity there during the Roman imperial period.

Mausoleum of Galla Placidia

An ancient funerary chapel, part of the Santa Croce complex in Ravenna, Italy, possibly built as an imperial mausoleum (ca. AD 417 - 425). The empress Galla Placidia (d. Pašime

Pašime is an ancient settlement located at Tall Abū Šījah, an archaeological site in the Maysan province of southeastern Iraq, close to the Iranian border. The site was inhabited perhaps already from the fourth millennium BCE, and particularly in the third and early second millennium BCE. The name Pašime appears in an Old Akkadian inscription discovered at the site in the course of excavations by the Iraq State Board of Antiquities and Heritage in 2007. The inscription was dedicated to the god Šuda, indicating that a temple devoted to this deity may have been located at Pašime.

Praetorian Guard Barracks at Amba Aradam Metro Station

Excavations for Rome's Metro C public transit line at the Amba Aradam Station revealed the remains of a second century A.D. barracks connected with the Praetorian Guard, along with a domus identified as that of a praetorian commandant. Although ruinous, the architectural complex demonstrates good preservation of some features, notably floor mosaics and wall paintings. The second century A.D. stratigraphic horizon was reached at a depth of approximately 12 meters.

Qaleh Dukhtar

The so-called "Maiden Castle" is a large fortification built by Ardashir I in the early third century A.D. It is located about 8 kilometers to the north of Firuzabad in modern Iran. Despite the distance involved, it is listed as part of the "cultural landscape of Bam" in the 2004 UNESCO World Heritage List.

Roman spring sanctuary near Heckenmünster

An extensive complex of structures dating to the 1st - 3rd centuries of the Roman imperial period sited at a pair of springs known today as "Viktoriaquelle" and "Schwefelquelle," near modern Heckenmünster in German. This site, whose ancient name and tutelary deities are not known, was extensively excavated in the 1960s. It comprised religious and performative spaces, as well as baths and hostelry.

Roman villa at Positano

An opulent Roman villa maritima destroyed by the A.D. 79 eruption of Vesuvius. The remains of an opulent and well-decorated Roman villa have been known at Positano since at least 1758 when ruins were discovered during work on the bell tower of the church of S. Maria Assunta. Karl Weber conducted excavations there in the same year. Modern work, begun in 1999, has stabilized and consolidated the site.

Tel Hazor

Tel Hazor (Hebrew: תל חצור‎‎) is an archaeological site located in the southern Hula Valley overlooking Lake Merom. From the Middle Bronze Age to the Israelite period in the ninth century B.C., Hazor was the largest fortified city in the region. It served as a commercial center with links to Babylon and Syria. In the Book of Joshua, Hazor is described as “the head of all those kingdoms” (Josh. 11:10).

The site was excavated by archaeologists from the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago in 1936 and 1937. Tell Agrab seems to have been inhabited from the early 3rd millennium BCE until the beginning of the Old Babylonian Period (ca. 1800 BCE). In its early history, the site held a temple possibly dedicated to the god Šara.

Tomb of Nebamun at Thebes

Theban Tomb no. 65 (TT65), the tomb of Nebamun, dated to the reign of Hatshepsut. The tomb was reused in the Twentieth Dynasty for Imiseba, a member of the Theban Clergy. In late antiquity it (along with several of the surrounding tombs) was repurposed as an anchorite dwelling, called in modern times the "Monastery of Cyriacus."

The mainstream of scholarly opinion associates the ancient site with Tell Jokha, Iraq, located in Iraq's Northwestern Dhi Qar Governorate.
